Eleanor decided to train as an acupuncturist after having it herself and experiencing its effectiveness. She found acupuncture helped her original condition as well as profoundly improving her experience and enjoyment of life. She wanted to provide the same positive health benefits for others.
Eleanor trained for 3½ years at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. She combines two styles of acupuncture; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which is the main style used in China today, and Five Element Acupuncture which focuses more on the emotions and treats your constitutional strengths and weaknesses. Combining these styles enables Eleanor to provide a treatment that is appropriate to the individual, giving physical, mental and emotional balance.
Eleanor recently spent time working at the Acupuncture Institute of Anandanagar in West Bengal, India. This free clinic provides healthcare to one of the poorest rural communities in India. Working there has emphasised to Eleanor the positive effect that acupuncture can have on people’s lives.
Eleanor believes that positive health is more than just the absence of disease; it's about feeling in control of your own life and well-being. For this reason she believes it is important to choose an acupuncturist that you feel you can trust and connect with.
