DS, MIFR
After experiencing the benefits of reflexology throughout my pregnancy 15 years ago, I trained as a Reflexologist in 1997 with the Bristol School of Holistic Therapies and since then I have completed postgraduate courses in Precision Reflexology, Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) and Reflexology in Pregnancy and Labour. I now teach Reflexology Diploma courses for the School. I also qualified as a shiatsu practitioner with the Bristol School of Shiatsu in 2002. Since this time I have run my own private practice working with these therapies and believe both can have a profound effect on a person’s physical, emotional and spiritual well being. My practice has brought me to my specialism in pregnancy and fertility issues. Reflexology is one of the most popular complementary therapies used by women during pregnancy. It can help ease or prevent many of the conditions commonly associated with pregnancy and is very effective for helping to induce an over due baby. In 2008 I qualified as a ‘Relaxed Birth and Parenting’ Teacher and Doula (birth partner) supporting women, men and their families in making conscious, informed choices around birth. I now run weekly pregnancy yoga and birth preparation classes for women and birth preparation work-shops, for women and their partners every 6 weeks. For further information go to www.relaxedbirthandparenting.com Having treated my own son effectively with reflexology throughout his childhood, I wanted to share some basic techniques with other parents. I now run baby reflexology classes with a colleague, teaching parents how to treat their baby to help with teething, sleep, colic, constipation, colds etc. Baby reflexology is also a great way to bond with your child and have some one-to-one time together.
